I’ve never truly believed Collis left for good. He stepped away right after the fairy tale that we were the direct sellers…a system so unusual that Envato is still the only company using it.
It’s like a bookstore telling Stephen King that he is the direct seller of his own books, issuing receipts in his name, while the store earns only from “fees” rather than actually selling books. Normally you buy a book and the bookstore issues the receipt for the full amount, and pays taxes on it. Envato sidestepped that model entirely…and that’s pretty wild.
Collis vanished from the forums years ago, and he’s clearly not coming back. He’s watched from the sidelines as bad management dismantled his “baby,” but he hasn’t lifted a finger. Why would he? He’s a millionaire now…too busy to care about the community that made him rich.
