Question about removing a track from audiojungle

If I was to remove a track from audiojungle and place it elsewhere where I needed to also have it registered with my PRO (ASCAP) what are the complications or legalities of that if it had already been selling here on audiojungle. I wonder if it is only an issue if it has had extended license sales. Anybody have experience with this type of situation?

Great question! Would love some input on this as well.

Bump

I know the PRS wouldn’t like it here in the UK…they like that sort of stuff kept very separate (e.g. royalty free stuff and PRS registered bits) - otherwise if they do a census and find your piece on some advert on TV that was bought from AJ, then stick through for royalty payment on your next cheque; could turn into a right hellstorm for obvious reasons!

Very interesting question though, and I bet there’s a pretty complex answer too lol

Hello illuminations, great question. Thanks for your patience while we got this checked out.

As delgibbons said, it’s complex - because it will depend on the PRO you’re dealing with. To avoid creating issues for past buyers of your track on AJ, we’d ask that you only do this if the PRO you’re dealing with tells you that they won’t chase uses of the track made under licences obtained by AJ buyers, ie before you registered the track with the PRO. The answer is as varied as the number of PROs there are in the world! It also won’t matter if your track has only had regular license sales, as the same questions will come up for any future uses by an AJ buyer under the terms of their regular license. It would be great if you can let us know what approach ASCAP takes if you find anything out from them.

Good luck!

Any license issued before registering with PRO has to be respected. You should notify your PRO before registering a track that it has already been licensed to some projects.
