PRS and Soundmouse track registration

Hi there!
Would anybody suggest what to choose here?
Maybe @RedOctopus knows

Yes, Royalty Free Music.

Thanks for the answer. Sounds weird: royalty free music but not royalty free

No. It should not be Royalty Free.

It should be Production Library.

@RedOctopus Thanks for the clarification.

Itā€™s always been my understanding that music licensed through websites such as Audiojungle were considered Royalty Free Music. When I choose Production Library, it asks for information that is not applicable to my online sales experiences.

Could you please explain the difference?

I do not fully get what all this data info really means.
We already registered all the necessary data about tracks in PRS account. What just needed is an audio fingerprint to find matches. Why we need to put the metadata over and over again? What the point. Will Soundmouse still be finding matches without any metadata provided? I have so many tracks to upload there, and Iā€™m confused about the time needed to put all the necessary info. Better to see matches first and then provide metadata thatā€™s makes more sense.

I talked to them on the phone, and they told me to just use the Commercial option, especially if you also have the music on Spotify etc. (or plan to in the future).

Soundmouse wrote to me that Royalty Free is not the best option to choose.

I think this is because Royalty Free term has a few definitions/variations and is confusing even for industry people. AudioJungle is an unobvious model of Royalty Free becauseā€¦ AudioJungle tracks generate all royalties: sync, performance, mechanical, internet and neighbour. The only ā€œfreeā€ feature is that for one End Product you only have to buy one sync license to use music without time and quantity limit (not in all cases though). So it is basically a ā€œSync-Royalty-Free after first purchaseā€ xD

Ah, ok. I was referring to my BMI registration experience. Iā€™m just now getting started with Soundmouse. Good to know. Thanks.

Frustrating, I know. However there are TV channels which are scanned by Soundmouse for the local PRO. If you do not have track in Soundmouse, royalties will not find you.

It should be production library.

Here is a reply from support regarding category:

Commercial : Tracks that are released on iTunes or are in the charts
Commissioned : Tracks that are written specially for a TV show, Radio Ident, or TV/Radio Advert
Production Library : Production Library Music Licensed by MCPS in the UK
Production Library (Non-Mechanical) : Production Library Music that is licensed directly from the library
Production Library (Non-Affiliated) : Rarely used but some companies are not associated with any PRO at all and license and collect royalties themselves.

@RedOctopus Can you share your experience regarding how fast did you see first matches with your tracks in your Soundmouse account? It takes some time after upload to put tracks in the system and then search matches, right? Like any Content ID system works.

Is it important that track supposed to be greenlighted? Or yellow also acceptable?

You will never see matches. Itā€™s all invisible unfortunately. Not like Content ID at all. Only the production company/broadcaster of a TV show will see a match that will fill in the cue sheet automatically.

I thought we can see in which TV channel our music was used. No?
Like TuneSat.

But there is an option ā€œreportsā€. This is for what?

This is for reportsā€¦ Which are hidden for us.

Generally my foreign royalties have multiplied since I joined ASCAP as a selfpublisher and Soundmouse.

Yellow is ok.

Right: we should use Production Library (Non-Mrchanical)

Nope, unfortunately not. You will not get any information at all.

Or Commercial if you also put your music on iTunes/Spotify, like I do.
