It could vary depending on which category you work with mostly. For myself the approvals have noticeably sunk within the product mockups category. Help desk will not provide feedback on how to remedy this issue. I don’t recall the last time my work landed in the “changes required” tab instead of “published” or “rejected”. Contrasting this with another market I’ve worked with, where you get personalized feedback from the reviewer (even recorded footage) whenever there’s a problem. I’d say the review process on EE has plenty of room to improve.
