Envato already has a site where they give away free stock footage, music, sound effects, and templates. It is called Mixkit . They’ve had it for several years now. You don’t see it mentioned much here, for obvious reasons. What they do is “buy out” a large stock footage author, and then just give those items away for free.

Factually Incorrect, I am a contributor for Mixkit for last 2 years,

First : Envato don’t buy out the items from Large authors, They just mirror it from my portfolio with only 720P version,

Second : They don’t give away everything for free, In Stock video section you get 720P version for free with limited license, If you wish to download higher Resolution and for commercial license then you have to subscribe to Envato Elements, Which drives the traffic to Envato Elements and result is new Subscribers

It is the Marketing and Promotional site for Envato Elements, Nothing wrong in it, I appreciated the idea and opted in for overall success of Envato Elements, Choice was mine, No Envato Staff forced me to opt in, I Never got bigger cheque, It was a joint effort from some of the authors from Envato and Elements Team

I hope you appreciate the facts rather than Rumors
