I am trying to upload a theme to shopify but theme size is Bigger

I am trying to upload a theme to shopify but theme size is 72mb and shopify only allows upto 50 mb. Is there any way to upload the theme?

Hi,

you can try with envato FTP for uploading your file.

  1. Open your FTP client and enter the following details:
    Host: ftp.marketplace.envato.com
    Username: [your Envato Market username]
Password: [your Envato Market API key]
    Port: 21
Click ‘Connect’ or your FTP client equivalent.

Thanks!

I am not a computer savy. I tried to search for this but shopify doesn’t allow any FTP.

sorry to hear that. there was no problem at all uploading 50 MB+ they are talking about 500MB to 3GB using FTP http://prntscr.com/m9or56
you can try again and again, try with removing browser cache or other browser.

Are you sure you are trying to upload just the theme and not the entire download?

Hi, I reduced some images files from asset folder and it reduced the size but it still didn’t let me upload on Shopify. This is the error I am getting.

  • zip does not contain a valid theme: missing template “layout/theme.liquid”, missing template “templates/index.liquid”, missing template “templates/collection.liquid”, missing template “templates/product.liquid”, missing template “templates/page.liquid”, missing template “templates/cart.liquid”, and missing template “templates/blog.liquid”

shopify systems are not accessible via ftp for security and data integrity.

Have you checked you have tried to install only the theme not the full downalod from themforest. The best way to get the support is Contact your purchased Theme Author.
Contact Author and let them know.

Also you can try with this:
you an check the images within the asset directory. This isn’t a fix by any means but you may have to extract those images from the zip file and then delete them from within the zip file. That should clear the space letting you upload the theme. From there, just manually upload the extracted images back into the asset folder from with the Shopify Admin. You probably don’t need to all the images either - only enough to reduce the overall size of the zip file.
