What’s wrong? Why Hard Reject?
Nothing wrong with the arrangement and the sounds themselves seem ok. But the song/mix is heavily over compressed. It sounds like everything peaks and fights over the space in the mix. Which in turn makes it sounds like sounds are ducking.
Agree with Synchrotron, this track is definitely overcompressed. Whether that is the reason for the hard rejection is a different story. Just guessing here, but maybe the reviewer found the track too monotonous and not catchy enough.
I think your track has heaps of potential! Just need to focus a bit on your mixing skills, get some separation in the mix so you don’t have everything in the same place. I don’t think it’s necessarily `over-compressed’, it’s just that everything is located in harsh mid-range frequencies. But I really like your track and can imagine how good it could get!
