Amalia WP Plugin has reached release 8.2, but the download from envato is still version 7.8
Hi @maart24,
If you check the plugin Item page and check Changelog you will find:
Version 7.8 (24.09.2024)
Also you will find:
Last Update 25 September 2024
So, Version 7.8 is the latest version.
Thanks
Most like the reason : Register the plugin and get the auto updates from the author server directly.
On the Envato item page and the plugin’s official website, the changelog shows version 7.8, so displaying version 8.2 might be an error. Have you tried reaching out to the author? Are there any screenshots?
As stated earlier, if that doesn’t work, contact the item author.
I think Author has forgotten to publish the updated version of the plugin in codecanyon. So, I would like to recommend that contact the plugin author and let them know.
Thanks
I am writing to express my concern regarding the update availability for several WordPress plugins I purchased through your platform, specifically the “Amelia” plugin.
Over time, I have received regular updates and notifications from codecanyon about the latest versions of my purchased plugins. I understand and expect that authors selling through your marketplace are obligated to provide timely updates so that customers have access to the latest and most secure versions.
However, despite two updates being released by the developer of the Amelia plugin in the past month, I have not seen these updates made available on your platform. This is concerning, as it impacts the functionality and security of my website. When I reached out to forum Envato about this, I was informed that it is my responsibility to contact the author and request updates directly.
I find this response unsatisfactory. One of the primary reasons I chose to purchase through codecanyon is to avoid this very inconvenience and to ensure a reliable, consistent update process managed by your platform. As a customer, I should not be burdened with ensuring authors fulfill their obligations, and I expected codecanyon to handle this aspect on behalf of its customers.
I kindly request that codecanyon ensures the Amelia plugin author provides all updates through your platform promptly. This would align with the trust and expectations I have as a paying customer.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt resolution.
Best regards,
Envato can’t force any authors to update the plugins, it’s up to authors.
@ki-themes : Thank you for your comment. Do you know by heart, or is it only a wild guess from you?
While it is true that Envato may not be able to directly force authors to update their plugins, the situation is more nuanced. Envato acts as a platform that facilitates the distribution and licensing of software on behalf of authors, and it provides tools, including dedicated plugins, to manage updates and licenses efficiently.
Given that Envato handles the software registration process and makes updates available for download, it stands to reason that there is an expectation of responsibility on the part of authors to keep their products up to date. In fact, if the general terms and conditions of the platform include an obligation for authors to maintain and update their products, then authors should adhere to this requirement. This ensures that customers with valid licenses are not left unsupported or exposed to potential issues due to outdated software.
It is important for the integrity of the marketplace and customer trust that authors comply with these terms by providing timely updates. If an author fails to do so, it could not only undermine the customer experience but also reflect poorly on the platform as a whole. Ideally, Envato should monitor compliance with these obligations and take appropriate action if an author consistently fails to update their products.
Ultimately, customers who hold valid licenses should expect a reasonable level of support and maintenance for the software they purchase. A clear enforcement of such obligations helps maintain a fair and reliable environment for both customers and authors.
If an update was released then you just re-download the item and they will be the latest version.
In terms of item support and life span - the limitations (right or wrong) are in the T&Cs that we all agree to when buying items.
Thank you so much for your reply. However, I would like to reiterate my concern: despite multiple download attempts, the update file provided was still for version 7.8, while the Amelia homepage clearly details the changes for version 7.8.2. What logical connection can be drawn from this discrepancy?
It is also difficult to understand why it seems to have little significance for customers reading along that the most recent version is not being offered on the platform. This situation is quite puzzling. Advising users to simply re-download repeatedly and hope for the best is neither efficient nor helpful and should be avoided.
As I understand your concern, if there’s no serious vulnerability within the items, authors are not really entitled to update the items, once again, if you’d like to keep the items updated, you may get some freelancer to do it for you.
According to the terms, authors are not required to provide the “latest” version at Envato as long as the current version works fine.
Thank you for your response. I must apologize for not expressing myself clearly, as it seems my point was misunderstood. I will try again to explain the situation in simpler terms.
The download provided through Envato is version 7.8, whereas the current version offered directly by Amelia is 7.8.2. This means Envato is not offering the most recent version in their update downloads. An external IT expert won’t solve this issue! For context, I am an IT expert myself.
To clarify: I purchased the Amelia license through Envato with a lifetime updates option. This means I am entitled to receive the latest version of Amelia whenever a new release is made. This has nothing to do with “serious vulnerabilities within the items” but is solely about the contractual right to access new releases when the author updates the product, even if there is a slight processing delay.
I hope this clears everything up and explains my frustration.
@maart24 I understand your frustration. The item in question is from a non-exclusive author who sells through Envato as well as their own website, sometimes offering different types of licenses. If the author were exclusive to Envato and shared updates or code elsewhere, Envato might have taken action. However, in this situation, I don’t believe Envato has the authority to intervene or compel the author. You can reach out to Envato support via a support ticket, but I recommend contacting the author directly to ask why the latest update hasn’t been uploaded to Codecanyon. Since the author is responsible for uploading their items, reaching out to them directly is likely the most effective step. It’s possible they simply forgot to upload the newest version to Envato.
I do not get an answer from Amelia company. In the meantime 2 updates are missing.
Have you tried reaching out to the author through the item comments section?
They are not selling items “exclusively” at Envato, therefor they are probably offering their “buyers” those purchased the item from their website directly as “priority” updates, most likely with “subscription” plan that you’d need to pay to get the latest updates as they are published.
At this point, there’s nothing you can do and author may not provide the “missing updates” at Envato.
This seems quite strange. I purchased the product through Envato four years ago and have successfully updated it via Envato under the conditions they initially promised. I don’t understand these unfounded speculations. Instead, I would appreciate receiving solid, fact-based information from the community. On a positive note, Envato released version 7.9 for update today, which resolves the issue. With that, I consider this topic closed. Thank you all for your input and comments.
It seems there’s a misunderstanding here. Envato doesn’t upload the updates—it’s the author of the code or theme who is responsible for that. It looks like the author hasn’t uploaded the latest upgrade. So, I think the blame should go to the author, not Envato.
There are some limitations for Envato when it comes to non-exclusive authors.
