I need a template that I can buy from Themeforest or get from Envato Elements. I need this template only for one project of mine. I can save the money for the template for Themeforest if I instead just create a 7 day trial account at Envato Elements and then download the template, right? Despite cancellation abbonement I would still have the license for my project or?

You have to be actively Subscribed to the platform(elements) when the project is going on and completed I.e you cannot stockpile items for future use and cancel the subscription. The licenses you get for items you download and register from Envato Elements are only valid if you complete your End Products while your subscription is active. Then the license continues for the life of the End Products (even if your subscription ends).
Also download item from envto elements does not come with purchase code. So, you will not get auto/regular update and also will not get author support. But purchase from themeforest you will get those.
