Enfold update not working (3.8.5 to 4.2)

I have tried several times to update my Enfold theme (some sites have done it fine) one in particular keeps giving me the message

An automated WordPress update has failed to complete - please attempt the update again now.

This site was “inherited” and the them was already there but form another account - I have updated the license info with my username & api - maybe that has something to do with it??

well i could but i have 3 other installs that updated via admin - so I’m curious why this one didn’t work
