Cannot Sign Up for Blk. Fri. Student Discount

I just saw a Black Friday price promo for students (on Unmesh Dinda’s PixImperfect site) & wanted to sign up. But when I try the “verification” box on the Envato website it won’t verify me. I’m quite upset. And, there’s no way to reach Envato about it. Their “survey” won’t even let me enter the email address I use for school and other (very large & prominent) post-processing programs.

I attend a community college (majoring in photography & photo criticism) near my home. They don’t provide .edu email addresses. Only the big, fancy, expensive universities like Stanford Univ nearby do that. Not my 2-year school. This seems discriminatory. If anything, the people that go to those fancy colleges have rich parents who can afford to pay for Envato. Not those of us who aren’t working & in accredited community colleges …

I can’t find a way to contact support anywhere on the Envato website - for someone to help me with this while the promo price is active. I would have been able to send them a PDF of my student ID so they can see my college info. if there was a ‘help’ link. Maybe I’m just missing it. If so, can someone pls provide it?

Unmesh Dinda (PixImperfect) & Colin Smith (PsCafe) both raved about how great Envato is for photographers (& photographers in training). Now, I’m frustrated and don’t understand why they are promoting it. It definitely doesn’t seem to be for someone like me. Both because I’m blocked from getting it as a student and because even if someone is a customer, there seems to be no way to connect with a support person at Envato. Very disappointing.

You can contact Envato Elements Help and Support.

Unfortunately it’s not likely to be something that will be easily altered.

Using the emails as a vetting method is the only realistic way for them to handle the process.

They can’t have someone manually review the huge volume of applications that they receive due to the resource requirement and the fact that they would not be able to check the validity of a student ID from any school or college on any country in the world.

It just doesn’t seem fair (and especially since the subscription would already be expensive for me with the Blk Fri discount) for students at schools that don’t pay for .edu emails for their students to be left out. Adobe recognizes my student status with the ID copy I sent them…

I got so excited after hearing about the resources I could use for projects, composites, video prep, etc. What a letdown.

Some companies like to get students “hooked” on using their product/service so that when they graduate they’ll continue to use those things & tell others about how great they are. I don’t think Envato should want the opposite to happen.

When I went to the help links, before writing here to ask how to get this to work, it was an endless loop of nowhere to write or call and only that inflexible box for a non-existent .edu email address. It just gives me a bad feeling that if I were to subscribe and there was a different kind of issue that came up there’d be no human being who I could contact or who would care. Perhaps someone ‘up there’ is looking out for me by having this student process fail - then I can tell others in my classes and photo clubs so they know too.

Thx for the reply.
