Hi, I had uploaded the theme on ThemeForest 3 days ago. Today it has been hard rejected.
Theme Info:
It’s a restaurant theme and I’m avoiding front-end plugins because of some custom features for instance, Day/Night mode, custom nav designs, headers. Theme is using custom wp widgets for home-page design like map, galley-showcase, articles-showcase e.t.c. Custom post types for chefs and menu items.
Envato theme check was showing custom widgets are plugins territory and WP-API error for menu items. So I had moved custom-widget and WP-API to custom plugin, and stored the custom plugin to Github which is auto-installing in theme by (TGM Plugin Activation)
Also using (Advance Custom Fields) for custom widgets and by some pages. These are big steps that are making this theme different, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong because it’s my first theme on ThemeForest!!

I’ve received this email!
(Unfortunately ‘WordPress’ has higher standards in terms of aesthetics. As higher quality items become available in the marketplace, approval requirements will increase to maintain appropriate marketplace quality.
While I’d be able to provide feedback as to how to get this approved, I can only do after it has crossed a certain threshold, quality wise. I’m sorry to say this isn’t there yet.
We appreciate the effort and time you’ve put into creating your item. And we’d be happy to help make sure your next entry will meet our submission requirements. Here’s our advice)
Hello,
Envato check the design first and then if design is good they moved to coding review. So forget about your code right now.
You have too many design issues, if reviewer didn’t send you this check it:
Where to start?
-
An overall design quality
-
Visual hierarchy and aesthetics
-
Typography
-
Forms and buttons
-
More attention to details
-
Better design consistency
-
An overall spacing
-
Color contrast and schemes
Here are some resources for you:
The best option for me was just open all new themess and see what they have done and why.

Hi thank you, I’ll check articles but I’m using one typography in full theme and buttons and forms could be bad in live preview because I haven’t added alt attributes and some actions
Spacing I’m not using in fonts because of design but using in section but same in all.
Color contrast and schemes users can change, with one click, and background color, has three options in every single layout with day/night mode, user can select light, dark, full-dark
It already took a lot of time to build and dig into themes code again without knowing rejection problem is hard, One of my friends said it could be performance issue, I’ve checked from chrome lighthouse it’s low, now gonna fix it let’s see if that could help !!
No offence but this looks like it was made in 2000, just look at the themes that are approved
This will never get accepted!

As noted by others, your main issue is the design. It looks very outdated, and to be completely honest, quite amateurish. It doesn’t scale to a big screen, there are way too many annoying animations, and it just doesn’t look interesting and professional at all. Also, none of the features you’ve described are in any way unique. ACF, TGM, widgetized homepage etc, all this has been used in themes for years.
BTW, you are saying this is a WP theme, but it is actually a HTML template?
