PRO Licence Fees and Podcasts

I cannot seem to find a definitive answer anywhere on whether PRO fees are payable if a section of a track is used as a podcast intro.

Even relevant PRO websites do not seem to mention it specifically and I do not want to walk into a minefield un-prepared.

If anyone has experience with this, advice would be greatly appreciated. I do know I can choose non PRO music so I am just looking for clarification when choosing.

It looks like you are based in the UK. The PRO for UK is PRS. You can read more here on the fees for using PRO registered music in your podcast https://www.prsformusic.com/licences/using-music-online/podcast-licence
