@QBKL - @bennieblanco, it has already been discussed a few posts back and the staff behind Unyson have said that they are working with the Envato team to fix all issues that might make a theme using Unyson not pass the theme check review.
A: We received some recommendations from @StephenCronin not issues.
My message from 3 Dec 2014 on this topic:
We tested Unyson with Plugin Check and this is the report with errors: https://ps.w.org/unyson/trunk/plugin-check-info.md 50% of them are Plugin Check Bugs like WARNING: Found PHP short tags in file <? another 50% is functions that can’t be changed with others and a lot of popular plugin use it in the same way.
In last 5 month we added a lot of extensions also improved others for example forms (from extension to shortcode), Theme Settings (vertical), etc and every time we check Unyson with buggy Plugin Check plugin
I’m happy to say that we’ve finalised things and are happy to accept themes based on Unyson, with 2 points to keep in mind:
We've seen themes using TGM Plugin Activation to require Unyson as a plugin, but we've also seen themes baking it into the theme itself. We'd prefer themes to require it as a plugin as it's better for portability, it will be fine with the Phase 2 Requirements and it's also much easier to keep Unyson up to date. At this stage, we'll only accept those themes requiring it as a plugin, not those baking it in.
Of course, themes still need to meet the normal submission requirements - they will still be reviewed as normal, etc.
I also need to add the disclaimer that we haven’t checked every single line of code in Unyson, so we can’t give a 100% guarantee that there won’t be any issues (note this is the same with any third party plugin you base a theme on) - but we can’t see anything that will automatically cause your theme to be rejected.
So … go for it!
I’d also like to thank ThemeFuse for their exceptional patience and also to congratulate them on what is shaping up as a very nice product!
You heard him guys, go for it but keep in mind the points raised.
Now that we’ve received the green light, we’ll be uploading our first theme on Unyson today. I’ll keep you in the loop about the process.
First to say that I like this framework, especially page builder and I would like to use it in my themes.
However I have 2 issues with it.
It is not really an issue but I noticed that theme’s custom post types need to have defined menu position 4 or greater number because if they don’t have menu position defined or have 2 or 3 then first of them is somehow rewrited by Unyson link in Dashboard. It somehow disappears. But everything is fine if menu position is 4.
Is it possible that custom created shortcodes (inside folder “framework-customizations/etc…”) can be added via plugin, not in theme? I would like to create new shortcodes but since we got official response from Themeforest staff that framework will be allowed only as plugin I’m not sure is it allowed to add this customization in theme?
@partnuz - Right now we don’t plan to add premium extensions. Our team is full time working on free extensions/improvements like you can see in Trello Roadmap.
I am using Unyson on my Wordpress site and in particular the page builder extension which is brilliant.
I have found however on a few occasions after checking some of my pages when say for instance using the accordion feature that that area renders as HTML
I have found that when I check my Wordpress dashboard, although Unyson is still present the page builder extension seems to have deactivated itself?
If I reactivate the extension the page works again… any ideas why?
