Item Support Policy and Functionality Launched

Agreed that buyer should definitely get an option to rate. But for how longer? Rating should be enable for a period of time, as even technology obsolete by the time and things changes very rapidly. The buyer had purchased an item 2 years back and if he is going to rate it today, this might not be the right thing to do.

See my opinion is just to make this rating system more robust. The current system is just not good at all and envato itself agrees with this and they might be working on it in background. After this new change of paid support, this is going to be even worst this is what i think

Disabling the productrating after 6 months ok - but I often use productions 1 or 1,5 years after they start.

So as autor it would be great to manage this function (on/off after 6 months) by him/her self and individual on customers. So she/he can deside to set this function free for me. This is the better workflow…

BTW -> envato ppl plz move to another forum. It can’t be that a post get closed in the timeframe I write a post…

(post was written before closing)

Very confusing :frowning: -
Item Price in $20

lots of difference for one sale. :frowning:

Don’t know if someone already posed the question but is the 1° september and API still returns an empty field for “supported until”.

Do I have to create a script to calculate 6 months from today (for old customers)…?

I understand you. But as long as i can rate an item it is available on the marketplace, right? And if it’s still offered, it is in competition to other items and it should be rated like any other item.

This would mean: No support-pack, no right to rate.

@blitzgeek I again agree with you but the point of rating rises here because envato has just made some updates in marketplace related to support policy and we being an author know that we used to get so many negative ratings due to UNSATISFIED buyers those demand everything to be done in the cost they paid for theme. And envato has no option to track this and protect us for this case. My only concern is that this new change is going to just increase the negative rating a little more for us sellers (authors) as envato has not done anything related to RATINGS & REVIEW thing (which is their ever pending plan).

Its just a pain of an author. We suffer from it so i am expressing. Where i should go to express that i am afraid? I think i am still writing in a community, though i know i will not be heard. #ShutUpAndKeepWorking

The support_until property is still NULL no matter if purchase is before 1st Sept., with or without extra support package. This means you have to calculate the end date but without knowing if a package has been purchased

WOW! Its a mess, I am sure envato staff don’t check it thoroughly that how things are going to look in every picture from every prospective. They must have to have a better flow of development and release.

Who approves these workflow and work? What a mess.

Envato, you definitely know how to overcomplicate things.

1/2 - As I mentioned, envato have to put this decision up to the autor. I will have the power to deside if I want a voting after 6 month and when someone asking after one year or maybe 2 or 3 years after publishing - “Hey can I vote on your production. I started to use it right now and will give you a vote and my impressions on this” - Than I can deside to open it up for voting or not.

I’m not for an cancelation of voting after 6 months but looking for alternatives and maybe this is one solution.

The statement page is a nightmare. :weary:

So, what you threw out of your window after seeing the statements page? :joy: :joy: :joy:

@theemon: Think you shouldn’t be that afraid. Most customers don’t need support after the 1st half year. So there will hopefully not be a lot of discussion.

@TenserD: I see that a bit different. Those products are evaluating, changing. Maybe an author looses his interest in it, faulty updates are published and bugs are not fixed a.s.o.
A customer must have the possibility to rate again or to change his former rating. It’s fair to all the other potential buyers.

I’m not sure if my sentences are understandable, sometimes it#s a bit difficult for me to discuss stuff like that in english.

@blitzgeek Yes i am afraid more now because i have been pissed of by the type of customers i am referring in my posts previously and that support thing already lacked in whole on envato. And when we go in touch with envato support regarding those ratings, they keep saying we are working on new review and rating things and then things will improve. But before they got that support and review system, they launched this paid support thing, which making me more afraid. @blitzgeek there are good customers and there are bad too

Good customers normally don’t rate as envato doesn’t have a best rating system it lacks on ux and people unturn rated our product (mostly those who likes our product). But those are unhappy by any way, they know how to rate

For me too : ))

Didn’t get into the “again” but ur right. For voters there have to be an posibility to rate a 2nd time or more. I know this for good.

And ur right with “most customers don’t need support after the 1st half year”, too. The only return on support is when something getting wrong with an update. Most of the items I bought - over 150 scripts/plugins/extensions - I never have to ask something or needed support.

Nope, field is totally empty for old customers.
Anyway is not a big problem: I’m going to treat empty == NULL

However I must know if it is the standard or a bug. Many many many users use my support site every day and this could generate a lot of problems to my business.

Designer increasingly worse and this topped, also there are authors who have a lousy support take over 4 days to respond, important bugs in templates and passing out updates.

Sorry for not being clear: every purchase has NULL!

I had a normal purchase (with 6mo included), an extended one (with 12mo support) and of course purchases before 1st Sept.

I guess this is bug!

Good or bad… but i got my first extended support sale today.

lets think this way… usually i support buyer even after 6months of purchase… now i am getting paid for that support

The statement is an absolute mess now. I have a wild guess that it was made this way solely because of tax reasons. Otherwise, why make it so complicated to the point where it’s unreadable anymore?
