Please can someone bring me up to speed?
Let’s say I have an active subscription to ThemeForest
I can download and install as many WordPress kits/templates as I like without any worries legally speaking, right ( doing a happy dance )
In order to continue using these WordPress kits/templates
I must have an active subscription to ThemeForest otherwise I can expect legal problems. It doesn’t work like I have a subscription - I download/install a WordPress kit/template then I own it from that point moving forward, with or without a subscription.
(bangs his head on his desk)
-Thanks-

I am really trying my best to be infomed
I am setting up a new website online business that will sell clothing, t-shirts/sweatshirts/sweatpants/hoodies. . . etc
So should I purchase a template/kit to use on one of my websites I read this: ; ;

Clear guidelines on what’s not allowedSome common-sense limitations do apply, as set out below:

  • You can’t re-sell, or re-distribute items;
  • You can’t use items in on-demand services;
  • You generally can’t use items as the basis for merchandising. For example, printing a logo from Envato Elements straight onto a T-shirt is not allowed. See clause 13 below for the relevant terms and conditions;
    So I am NOT allowed to do this?
    Is this correct?

I create a design/logo/image and place it on clothing for sale on my website using a kit/template from Envato
I am NOT allowed?
I Must " maintain an active subscription with Envato?

I understand THAT i CAN DOWNLOAD
I do not understand what I am allowed to do AFTER I download and use it
with or without an active subscription.
savvy?

@Anthony5144

I personally do not use Envato Elements - I buy on Themeforest/Codecanyon either a theme or template or script. As per their terms and conditions I use one theme for one person (either myself or a client).

If you’ve registered Items for specific projects or end uses, they retain a valid license after your subscription ends. Each time you download an item, you get an ongoing license for a single, specified use.

If you unsubscribe, you can no longer use items from Envato Elements. However, any existing uses that you registered are still covered.

If you scroll down the page on the link I posted, then it outlines everything that Envato permit or do not permit. Since I do not work for them, I don’t think I can it put it any other way than how they say it.

If you are in doubt about what you can do or cannot do, then

But they will likely point you to the same links

First I want to say Thank You for your time & speedy reply,
I am still on the fence after reading this:

I am currently making 3 eCommerce stores

  1. Electronics
    2)-Apparel
    3)- Restaurant
    For the apparel I will use one of the print on demand websites
    They supply the print, all I do is place my ideas to be printed on say a tee-shirt, sweatshirt, jogging pants, sportswear etc . . .
    So, I will purchase a kit/template and use it to sell the clothing.

If the designs on the clothing you’re selling have nothing to do with Elements, i.e. you’re only using the website or theme from Elements to sell the designs (designs which you have made entirely yourself, buyers are providing etc etc)… then that’s absolutely fine. No problem.

If you’re taking graphics from Elements, putting them on a t-shirt and then selling them… that’s not allowed.

If its something other than the above then you might have to clarify a bit further, but support is the way to go for an official answer.

And if you are getting the theme/site from Elements… you might want to consider Themeforest instead. There you get updates and support which might be invaluable if you’re using the item as the basis of a business.
