Getty Shutterstock merger

I still don’t understand why they shut-down Studio, it could’ve been online another 2 years at least.

About AI, I just saw an advertise from Adobe, you can type whatever you want, the AI creates an image that you could now change the color and edit the image as template.

AI is far from creating professional work, that is not the issue.

The issue is that they created Elements and added a billion files with no identity, just a mess of things, creating work for Elements is depressing we can’t express our self anymore is just a number game… I feel like is fake.

The former, current CEO does not understand how Envato works.

Even now if Elements is closed and Envato returns to the old model I am 300% sure things will start working again.

This subscription model with millions of files is starting to be everywhere, personally,I prefer to pay per item and get the maximum quality that a picture of things in which you get lost, and also be able to communicate with the author.

Even the banner says unlimited. What is unlimited?

How Evento a place where the best creative freelancer in the world created magic… messed up so badly beats me… even if I would want to do this mess on purpose it would be hard.

Correct. And anytime someone create ai photo, contributor is compensated for their work since AI has created a photo baded on existing photo in adobe library.

When is Envato about images, images are not what Envato is about, and as I said there is a mess of things with images…

Ai is here to stay and there is no turning back, whether we like or not.

Big companies know that and that’s why they are merging with each other and selling our items to AI agencies…it’s a gold rush for them!

It’s the survival of the fittest, digital darwinism, there’s no way a company will survive without AI in the next coming years, it’s just a matter of time.
5 years ago i couldn’t even fathom a future like the one we are living today and everything is progressing at lightspeed, what’s impossible today is going to be possible way sooner than I thought.

Just look a Adobe, you can generate AI images with adobe express, there’s generative fill, generative text effects, you can create flyers with AI and soon they will implement text-to-video…I mean, come on!

Do I find it morally ethical? no
Can i do something to change this situation? no

Every item on Envato has been already sold to other companies and we never got a cent in return, that’s the reality and that’s how is going to work in the future.

We just have to adapt and be resilient, otherwise we can abandon this digital world and buy a piece of land to stay away from technology :smiling_face_with_tear:

It can be and must be closed due to copyright infrigement. Or do you think its ok when some dudes from generative companies downloaded content from internet, watermarked content inclued, than used it in some software for money gain?

We authors are at the very bottom of the pyramid, there’s not that much that we can do to stop those tech giants…
Look at how fast this AI world is evolving…maybe some companies will get sued, others won’t, just like Envato, who forced all of us to stay and sold our items to AI companies without even compensating us.

I remember Greg Rutkowski started a class action agaist some companies a while ago, I’m very curious to see what’s going to happen.

Every year is a new challenge, some surprise announcement will get us all doom-scrolling the forums for weeks, we cope, and try to move on, albeit with a few more rocks in our backpacks. 2024 we had the shutterstock acquisition, and before that (2023) it was the new payment system (which pretty much bricked paypal for some), and before that (2022) they removed the “bonus” payments, and so on…

I know wishing doesn’t help much, but I do wish everybody well, if you’re out here uncertain for the future, I get it, and you know what, if anyone wants to vent or just talk … consider this an open invitation.
