I have decided to use one of the free themes that envato has sent me but now it tells me the link has expired? Is the use of the theme also then only for the week or two that it is valid.

when you will get any free item link in your email then that item download time for a specific time frame. It is just a Gift of Giving campaign offered by envato. you have to download before campaign end.
