Envato’s marketing team are putting together a ‘Steals of the Week’ sale campaign throughout March that will feature 30-50% off items from ThemeForest and CodeCanyon on a weekly rotation basis.

A limited selection of items will be promoted each week in March, on a dedicated page within each participating marketplace, enabling customers to browse sale items using the full range of Envato Market filters. Our campaign will be promoted through Envato’s marketing channels, including on-site promotion and email.

How does it work?

  • Step 1: Read all the information contained in this forum post. If you have any questions, just ask us in this posts’ thread.
  • Step 2: Nominate your item(s) using the form below, by telling us;
    • Your username, email and the item you wish to nominate
    • Your chosen discount between 30-50%, that your item (if selected) would be set at for a 7 day promotional period, during March 2024.
  • Step 3: Envato will review all nominations and contact selected authors with the 7 day campaign period that their item has been allocated to go on sale, at their nominated discount.
  • Step 4: You have the opportunity to accept or opt-out of the campaign dates proposed. If you select to opt-out, we are unable to return your item into this campaign.
  • Step 5: If you have accepted, promotional prices (as determined by you through the nomination process) are automatically applied to your item at the confirmed start time, and will be returned to the original price automatically at the end of the 7 day period.

Promotional periods are as follows (AEDT = Australian Eastern Daylight Time);

  • Week 1: Starts Monday 4th March 12am AEDT, ends Sunday 10th March 11:59pm AEDT, 2024
  • Week 2: Starts Monday 11th March 12am AEDT, ends Sunday 17th March 11:59pm AEDT, 2024
  • Week 3: Starts Monday 18th March 12am AEDT, ends Sunday 24th March 11:59pm AEDT, 2024
  • Week 4: Starts Monday 25th March 12am AEDT, ends Sunday 31st March 11:59pm AEDT, 2024

It’s really important that the 30-50% discount is off your normal item price. Envato will be reviewing each nominated item carefully, and only those with a clear, stable and consistent normal price will be selected (consistent with our Pricing Promotion rules below, among other selection criteria).

What are we looking for?

  • You must be the author of any items that you are nominating;
  • Items must be high quality, presented well, and up-to-date;
  • We are looking for current high performing items that have;
    • Star rating of 4 stars or higher.
    • Consistent high sales performance for the past 1-3 months

NOTE: A limited number of placements are available, only authors of selected items will be contacted. Selection of nominated author items is strictly at Envato’s sole discretion. Unfortunately, due to the volume of expected nominations and nature of this promotion, we will be unable to provide feedback on any items which are not selected.

Campaign Discount

For this campaign we’ll feature selected items that are at a discount of 30% to 50% Off from their normal (consistent) standard license price.

Discounts will be:

  • Set for a promotional period of 7 days during March 2024. Authors of selected items will be contacted prior with details of discount start and end time and are able to accept or opt-out of the campaign dates.
  • Scheduled automatically by Envato to start on the first day of the promotional period, and return to the original price at the end of the 7 days.

How is this different from larger sale campaigns, like Cyber Monday?

The Cyber Monday Sale promotes a wide range of items with extensive on-site and marketing channel promotion.

Our Steals of the Week campaigns offer promotional opportunities in addition to the Cyber Monday Sale. There are fewer items selected on a weekly rotation basis, which are displayed on a dedicated sale filter page and promoted to engaged customers on our marketplaces. As always, discounted items will be visible on the general sale item filter pages as well.

How long are nominations open for?

Nominations will be open until Sunday 11th February, 11:59pm AEDT.

How do I know if my item(s) is selected?

If your item is selected, we will contact you via the email address on your Envato account before 23rd February 2024. We’ll aim to provide at least 7-days notice (before the discount start date) to authors of items that are selected, giving you the opportunity to accept or opt-out of the campaign dates proposed.

Will this campaign count towards the 60 days that this item can be discounted per year?

No, having an item accepted into an Envato campaign is not counted towards the 60 days an item can be discounted per year. See our author Discount & Promotional Pricing Guidelines for more information.

Can I extend the discount on my item?

There is no extension period available for this campaign. However, as always, authors can schedule their own discounts after the allocated promotional period has ended, using the Manage Discount section on your item’s edit page (standard Discount & Promotional Pricing Guidelines apply).

Items discounted beyond their allocated promotional period won’t receive additional promotion, including email and dedicated sale page visibility, which will only run as part of the official campaign.

Pricing Promotion Rules

Consistent Price: Your item must have been listed at a clear, stable and consistent price to be eligible for inclusion in our campaign. As is always the case, eligibility will be determined by Envato, factoring in a number of different things, including whether your item has been listed and sold at the same price for the 30 days leading up to the promotion period. Note that for this particular campaign, the final promotion period will be set by Envato during the described promotional window, refer to the 5 step campaign process above. Discount Price: By nominating for this promotion you are choosing to set your item’s list price at 30-50% off the stable price it has been listed at. Sale items are rounded down to the nearest dollar after the discount has been applied.

Author-Driven Pricing: Under our Author-Driven Pricing rules, as you all know, you are free to change your price whenever you like. However, it’s really important that our buying customers have certainty around pricing and the extent of discounts, particularly on sales campaigns. If you are opting into our sale campaign (by nominating your items with the link above), you’re electing to apply the discount for the specified 7 day duration of the promotion period - and making a commitment to customers to not change discounts or price for that period. Again, for this particular campaign, the final promotion period will be set by Envato during the described promotional window, refer to the 5 step campaign process above. We’ve implemented some tooling to help with this, which does the following for our campaigns:

  • Envato will contact selected authors notifying them of the proposed 7 day campaign period that their item has been allocated to go on sale, at their nominated discount. At this point, authors will have the opportunity to accept or opt-out of the campaign dates proposed;
  • Once the above item selection is complete and relevant authors are notified via email, price changes will no longer be possible until the end of the campaign, unless authors opt-out of the campaign altogether before the campaign period starts;
  • Once the campaign commences, the nominated discount percentage will be automatically applied for the specified promotion period; and to confirm, authors will not be able to change the item price (or cancel their nominated discount) during the campaign.

Of course, you have the option to opt-out of the campaign before it begins by contacting communitymarketing@envato.com or using the Manage Discount tool. Just be sure - because if you select to opt-out, we are unable to return your item into this campaign. If part-way through the campaign, you’re affected by serious circumstances that mean you must exit your items from Envato’s campaign, let us know at communitymarketing@envato.com, and we’ll do our best to help you. All decisions about whether Envato can or will remove any item from a campaign are final.
