Can't configure Soledad layout

Can anyone help with this?

We want our design to look like this:
http://pencidesign.com/soledad/soledad-magazine/

But we can’t get it to change from this:
http://pencidesign.com/soledad/

How do we activate magazine layout? I’ve followed the video tutorial but when I click on magazine it doesn’t make any change to the appearance.
