Begging someone for a coherent answer... HOW does the Extended License work for re-selling modified themes!?

I am so frustrated… I’ve been digging through the documentation and FAQs about the Extended License for over an hour. And the rules don’t make any sense! They totally contradict themselves.

  1. I want to buy a theme.
  2. Then I want to customize the theme to make one single End Product … (a heavily modified version of the theme with new features).
  3. Then I want to sell the theme to my customers - who are newbie, first-time webmasters building their first websites.

Can I do this!?

On one hand your docs say, “You are licensed to use the Item to create one single End Product for yourself or for one client (a “single application”), and the End Product may be Sold.” It also says, “You can Sell and make any number of copies of the single End Product.”

But elsewhere in the FAQs, it says, that items cannot be multi-use or installed on multiple domains.

So how can I sell a theme to my customers if it can’t be used on multiple domains?

Thank you.

You can do that but when it comes to web templates certain rules apply:

  • On both licenses each website, domain or installation requires a unique license (purchase of the file). So if you sell a modified version to 3 different clients then you need to buy (only a regular license) 3 times.

  • Neither license allows you to resell the file on envato without permission from the author
