Türkiye VAT information for Authors

Hi all. From April 1, 2025, Envato will begin charging VAT on Author Fees for Authors in Türkiye.

If you are based in Türkiye, here’s what you need to do to stay on top of this change:

What’s changing?

  • Envato will collect VAT on Author Fees for authors based in Turkiye, as part of our tax compliance obligations,.
  • This means that a VAT charge will be applied to the Author Fees you pay to Envato unless you have provided a valid VAT number (i.e. VKN).
  • When VAT is charged, the VAT rate will align with Turkish tax regulations, and you will see VAT charges reflected in your statement and invoices.

If you are based in Türkiye, here’s what you need to do

  • Update your VAT number in your Envato Market personal information settings. This ensures VAT is not charged on your Author Fees.
    • Log into your Market account and select Settings from the menu under your username.
    • If you choose Türkiye as a country, a new field will appear where you can enter your VAT number in the “Tax ID” field.
  • Review your Envato Market statements to see how VAT is applied.
  • Consult your tax advisor if you have questions about your tax obligations.

Please head to our Help Center article for more detail about this change, and to view our Tax FAQs.

I don’t want to be that guy but it’s Turkiye as it’s official name. ( Since June 3rd, 2022 )

Thanks for the reminder! I’ll check with our team to see if we can update the country selector dropdown as well.

EDIT: Done! The country selector dropdown should also now use the updated spelling.

What is the tax rate?

How much VAT will I have to pay?

The VAT rate will be based on current Turkish tax regulations. You will see the specific percentage applied to your Author Fees in your statements unless you have provided a valid VAT number.
