(Locked) Envato's Most Wanted - $5,000 for Ghost Themes

@meanthemes - Im curious as to how you are getting post images to display in an archive type layout. I thought this wasn’t possible with Ghost yet?

Hello guys,

I really want to make a theme for Ghost but when I thought about hosting the preview… My hosting provider doesn’t support Node.js :crying:

If I upload a theme with screenshots will it affect my chances of it being accepted?

We got our entry submitted. Really hoping themes accepted into this category will get the exposure of being on the front page with all the other new products. I totally did not notice the other four themes being accepted, and I’ve been checking back reasonably often

Cheers,
Eric

Mine was rejected :frowning: Twice :frowning:

Well… at least I tried

Don’t know, maybe too simple for ThemeForest: Floating Islands Demo - maybe gurus could tell what’s wrong with that theme? Too simple? I would be grateful

I know you were going for simple and clean, but to be honest it just looks like it’s lacking interesting styling… like it’s a little too basic. There is a balance of creating something that is unique and interesting while maintaining simplicity and minimalism. It looks like you just need to spend some time giving the theme it’s own identity, so to speak… in order to set it apart from just a default style look.

Thanks. I think you are right. I feel that it’s basic styling, but I thought it’s enough to submit… well, noup.

Truth to be told I am a professional bearded Software Engineer, so design is one of my hobbies
Need more practice I guess. Thanks again! :bigwink:

Well its a bit of a workaround. The actual post needs to have the image/iframe as the first thing within the post content and then on the index.hbs, insert…

{{content words=“0”}}

It works for now. I’ve asked the creator of Ghost about featured images and there is no official way so this is the closest we’ll get until someone finds a better way.

Hooray! We’ve also had Moustachey approved http://themeforest.net/item/moustachey-a-ghost-blog-theme-with-extra-gusto/5883449 which is a direct port of our most popular WordPress blog theme: http://themeforest.net/item/moustachey-a-blog-theme-with-extra-gusto/3347168

Thanks Envato and ThemeForest

I set up an account with Digital Ocean for Nerdy, but for our latest one that’s just been approved (http://themeforest.net/forums/thread/envatos-most-wanted-5000-for-ghost-themes/110967?page=5#911061) I built it all on Ghost locally and then saved down each page as a static page so I could form a static site and uploaded it to the usual none node.js hosting. So you get the feel of how it looks and works on Ghost without the headache of hosting it on Node.js. It does take about half an hour to save it all down, change all the links and retest it though so its not the best solution. I’m hoping someone develops something with the API that allows static spawning of the blog.

We just had ours approved (http://themeforest.net/item/huckleberry-ghost-theme/5884584?WT.ac=category_item&WT.seg_1=category_item&WT.z_author=Studio164a). I’m hosting it on Digital Ocean, which is pretty excellent. It took me about 20 minutes to get the hosting & domain set up last night, so wasn’t really a hassle. You do need to have a little familiarity with SSH though

Congrats guys, it looks super!

$500 Bonus Prize for the best Ghost Theme converted from an existing theme or site template

Could explain this one?

Is it allowed to convert your own theme or site template only?
Or is it allowed to take an inspiration from someone else theme or site template?

I assumed it meant a template or theme of your own, not taking someone else’s design and trying to sell it off as your own Ghost version.

Ghost Theme submissions may be converted from your own existing theme or site template designs. If so make sure to notify the reviewers of this fact and link to the existing item in the submission upload comments box. For instance:

Thats actually a pretty sweet workaround. I had sufficed to simply using {{content}} rather than {{excerpt}} but thats great the excerpt can be limited so easily. Thanks for the tip!

Everyones themes look great btw. Congrats!

Eric,

where can i find Ghost Themes on Themeforrest. It seems that all Links in this Thread go to 404?

TIA

Bernd

I asked this a few hours ago (http://themeforest.net/forums/thread/envatos-most-wanted-5000-for-ghost-themes/110967?page=4#910968) - hopefully someone will be able to let us know as soon as they can

No problem at all  Good luck!

The Blogging > Ghost Themes category (previously in beta) has now gone live! Congrats to all of the authors on their newly approved themes.

Don’t forget to follow the instructions on the main announcement under “What To Do After Your Items Are Approved”, such as filling out the Most Wanted Entry Agreement.

Keep the great submissions coming

Just submitted a new theme a few moments back. Beautiful approvals already! So psyched about this new category. Had my eyes on Ghost for a while now.
