I do have my own demo URL but im trying to understand how “preview.themeforest.net” works? Like if i dont give any demo url, would themeforest be rendering preview from my main files?

No! you must have to provide your demo URL. and your demo URL will be setup in preview. URL

You need to set up the live demo on your own website. For example, here is the live demo link for BeTheme: https://muffingroup.com/betheme/
When you submit your item, you will enter the link to your live demo, on your own website. If the item is approved, they will automatically wrap it in the preview URL using an <iframe> tag:
