Does the maximum number of sounds in a pack (50) include WAV and MP3 separately?

The requirements in the upload requirements states:

The maximum number of sounds you can add to a pack is 50 samples.

Does this include counting WAV and MP3 files? If my sound file has 30 individual variations, does that mean I have to cut back as the total would be 60? Or is the 50 samples limit specifically for unique sounds irrespective of file type?

You may have 50 individual variations and put both WAVs and MP3s, with 100 sound files inside a .zip archive.
