adding an image upload to a meta box

anyone have any ideas?

im trying to add an image upload via the post screen, but not using the media manager, just browse select, but then add as an attachment.

here is the code im currently using, it saves to a thumb dir, im trying to implement the code where it adds to the attachment.

that uses the built in uploader.
