Worldwide Online Conference Hangout - April 2020

We’re in a very different situation now, James makes note of.

Change is a constant, though, so what’s the best way to sell well in this environment?

James is going to go through his 5-Step strategy to selling well!

  1. Build your audience first.

Be specific about who your audience is. If you try to sell to everyone you will reach no one.

Focus on creating value for your customers.

Master the tools, for example if you use social media read up on how to use these channels effectively. But you need to add value.

  1. Create demand for your brand

What story are you telling about who you are? People care about personality, and your story.

You can do this by investing in conversations instead of conversions!

  1. Talk to your audience

Get in front of your audience, and talk to them instead of your competition.
What kind of pain points do your customers have? What are they asking for?
If you don’t know…ask them

  1. Take the time to get it right.

Creating faster doesn’t always work, creating better does!
Attention to detail separates the good from the great.
Is your copy perfect? Do you have all the comments on your code?

  1. Amplify reach through distribution.

We share lots of trends information, search data etc. You can find a lot of this stuff at our Author Hub.

The forums are also a great place to get information, either from us, or from other authors!

How do I track and find my clients as accurately as possible? The invoice does not contain enough information to contact the customer. I am sure that every Envato author is always interested in where and in what projects Their product is used, but it is almost impossible to find these projects. If we could better track and find projects that use our sold products, it would be a good advertisement for both the client and the author.

I Have Questions Regarding Hard Rejection. You guys are doing hard rejection that’s okay but you need to provide a specific reason to the user without saying like that you can check rules or ask in forums. They have spend many months some time on single design so its better if you give some reason on that without just say hard rejection. So what do you think on this guys.

@DigiSamaritan Thanks for the question - I’ll find out some more information from our Digital Rights team.

@sergioproductions - Great feedback. Customer privacy restrictions are likely to be a major factor in which information is presented in the current invoices, but there may be scope to provide more relevant information in a way that still respects the customer’s right to privacy. I’ll make sure our UX team is aware of this.

First up from Andrew: What are the key trends for Web and Code items? Note that this isn’t an exhaustive list - it looks at three areas:

  • How do people search?
  • Which terms are in demand?
  • What common themes are trending?

Can’t wait for Creative Trends ! :upside_down_face:

From Andrew’s session:
So, how do customers search our sites?

80% of searches are related to industries, technologies or features. That’s important to keep in mind when preparing item tags - you want your items to be discovered by the customers who want to find that particular item.

is it possible to set up withdrawals on any other date?

What are the top searches on ThemeForest? For the “industry” category,

Each of those searches have their own niches - you’ll be able to dive into these in more detail after today’s sessions.

Top “feature” searches on ThemeForest:

Again, with many different niches in each - for example:

Some ThemeForest-related megatrends:

  • The Gig Economy (food delivery, freelancer, delivery app, etc)

  • eSports (eSport, gamer, twitch, gaming)

  • Media Streaming (video streaming, ipTV, live stream, music streaming)

Plus page-builders - especially Elementor, which is by far the most in-demand page builder in our customer search data.

Over on CodeCanyon - full applications, particularly mobile and PHP, have driven most of our recent sales.

PHP frameworks and cross-platform development tools have been extremely popular. Top “tech and platform” searches include:

Around 40% of CodeCanyon searches relate to a specific feature -

Drilling into those, technologies are present in most of the popular searches.
