Why envato fee is 50% for exclusive author during whole year?

I’m selling my item that costs $25 during whole year.

And everytime somebody purchase my item I receive only $12.75, regardless the buyer’s location.

So the real fee is 49%.

Stats from the Statements page for every sale:

  1. My Item (Regular License) - $12.50
  2. My Item (6 months included support) - $7.50
  3. Author Fee for sale - $4.53
  4. Author Fee for included support sale - $2.72

Total: $12.50 + $7.50 - $4.53 - $2.72 = $12.75

I’m an exclusive author and my total sales between $3750 and $7500, so the author’s fee should be 36.25% based on this table: https://help.market.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/214154443-Envato-Author-Fee-Schedule

A year ago I filled Form W-8 for non-US residents on the Tax Information page and entered my Foreign Tax ID Number, so there should not be any additional fee.

Do somebody know why the real author fee is 49% instead of 36.25% during the whole year?

$12.50 + $7.50 is $20

$4.53 + $2.72 is $7.25

$7.25 is 36.25% of $20

Ok, that make sence, but why $20, instead of $25 ???

Envato charges $25 from a buyer, but Statements page indicates “$12.50 + $7.50 is $20”. Where is $5 more?

The item costs $25: https://codecanyon.net/item/wp-media-folders/19929208

You forget to include the “buyer’s fee”. That’s where those five bucks went.

Envato’s always started at 50% for exclusive authors. Their ridiculous “author fee” and “buyer fee”, have not change that. It’s just not counted the same.
