Im new to this site and looking to re-do my website. Can I upload the theme into my current WP account and play around with the editor to better understand the usability?

There’s no pre purchase installation option.
Some authors - not that many yet have temporary admin access on their demos but not that theme by henlooks of it and even then those environments are not the same as a dull install.
You can always ask the author any questions that you have using item comments and play around in the demo.
Just in case when you mention “wordpress account” - you have to have your own domain and hosting as wordpress.com does not allow third party themes
