When I submit an mp3/wav - should it be the same volume as those already on the site? Any help would be much appreciated. Thx Doug.

Yeah! but not applicable, if your track sounds good in low volume you should upload it with low volume, well from my experience high volume tracks much accepted as compare to low sound volume tracks. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey Koffeeion thanks for your quick reply!

Yes, your track will likely get soft-rejected if not outright rejected if it’s not loud/compressed enough. The only exception would be some orchestral music some of the time.

How do you get it loud enough without going into the red? (-12)

Hey Adam - does that mean I’ve got to compress it more - to get it loud enough?

Hey handmadetrax - check this out:

This should explain some things to make your tracks louder without clipping.

Wow, SpinTone, great article! Thx Doug.

Aren’t loudness wars over yet? Please, do not overuse compression. Your mix is much more likely to get a hard reject if it’s compressed beyond limits rather than sounding a little quiet but with better dynamics. I think with production music customers can adjust the volume however they please in the final product.

Thx for your reply - WorldBeyond. Good point!

Regarding to your topic I would say - yes.
The volume war is other topic, and I doubt that it makes sense here.
