I’m very sad to say this but I think in next 1-2 years ThemeForest will be completely different. There were times that we could make a good living from this site, but it’s worse every month. Sales are down, prices are down (also ours, because if we don’t lower prices for old items there are 0 sales) and I think this is just preparation of Envato for WP elements. So good times ahead.
I have created a Skype group for author community. If you interested to join and exchange thoughts with each other, pm me your Skype ID and I will add you to the group. Or if anyone already has, invite me.
I’m not going to lock this thread as you guys have points of views that must be heard by the community but if you guys don’t mind I will rename the thread with “What are Envato’s plans for ThemeForest?” . The current title is really weird and from a buyers perspective may sound like the end of ThemeForest which is not the case.
Sorry to rename it so late, but I see this thread is constantly alive and it deserves to stay here so you can voice your opinions!
I did a bit of digging on this and I can confirm that within our plans for Elements, intercom (the pop up message) on Authors actual item pages was not part of the plan. The initial message that you say and screen-shotted above occurred because of an error in the way the tool was integrated, which is why you won’t have seen any more on item pages since.
Whilst we still use intercom for a lot of different things on market, I have been assured that we won’t be using it on individual item pages to promote elements.
@matthewcoxy I am still seeing it on the email marketing category page where I’m authoring. This has been for months and authors already complained about this earlier. This is ‘audience for the authors’, redirecting it to one of your own products such as Elements is ridiculous and I don’t think authors will accept a reason like ‘occurred because of an error in the way the tool was integrated’. Come on…
yeah, I also saw that with an author account. Just give it a -1.
Guess what it show up on every pages I opened (I used to click to open in a new Tab) and this popup shows in all Tabs and in all different category, it will change to various objects (email template, admin template…)
We really hope this doesn’t infect the WordPress category. It is an unfair competition if this really happens. We have some very innovative themes and marketing in development so we would hate to be forced to look for other market options or starting our own from scratch.
Mostly I view a lot of categories at the same time, at that time I open quite a lot of child categories (Wordpress, PSD, HTML, and Subcategory in WordPress such as Health, Edu…) and surprisingly the message popups (on botom right of the screens) on all opened Tabs (6 tabs or so).
I don’t know if Envato use cookies or specific timeout to show/hide that (didn’t want to check as I just hide that promo as soon as I saw it).
Our Marketing team has confirmed that Intercom promotions for Elements should be excluded from all Item, Author Profile and Portfolio pages. If you see Elements promotions popping up on those pages, please take a screenshot (so we know which campaign it comes from) and send me a DM, including the URL of the page it appeared on - I’ll make sure it gets to the right people.
The multi-tab issue is strange, as it should be restricted by URL - I’m aware of a few cases where new tabs have inherited pop-ups from other open tabs though. That issue is currently being investigated.
