Website locks up on iPad when Global Gallery activated

I have a site with Global Gallery installed which worked fine. Now, when viewing the site on an iPad, (Safari and Chrome) it will not scroll. Works OK on a desktop and on my phone.

I upped the max_input_vars in the site .htaccess way over the minimum required, and it worked for a while, but it’s locked again. Yes, there’s a lot of photos.

If I de-activate Global Gallery, the site works again, but no photos, of course!

Suggestions?
