Website data cannot be updated to be compatible with Impreza 5.6.1

Hi all,

after updating to the newest version of Impreza, the website slowed down very much. Additionally, I get an error message saying:
Your website data needs to be updated to be compatible with Impreza 5.6.1
To avoid losing website data, it’s strongly recommended to make a full backup of your website.
Also don’t edit website content and theme options before the update.

When I try to run the update, it starts but never stops. Tried it several times already. What can I do repair my site?
