I doubt the author has access to your website to create errors when your item support expires. All items on Envato are reviewed by experts before being approved, so any problematic code would have led to rejection. The issue you’re experiencing may be related to server configurations, another WordPress plugin, or the WordPress version you’re using. Like any other WordPress plugin, the functionality relies on your server and WordPress setup. Have reached out to them sir on several occasions.
Imagine an independent item cost $13, and the bundled item where i am supposed to upload the plugin extending expired support cost $169
As per your comment at the item page:
The current version is not supported and you don’t want to help because of expired support. and support renewal worthy more than the item.
Authors are not entitled to provide support if your support period has ended. You will need to extend the support period to be able to request more or you can find a freelancer to get your issue solved.
Support price is usually around 70% of the item cost, if you’re seeing a price range different than that, something is wrong.
What was the author’s response when you reached out to them?
Regarding pricing, it seems you may have looked at the wrong section for renewing item support and accidentally checked the extended license instead of the support extension. As @ki-themes mentioned, renewing item support costs less than the item’s price.
Check the Extend Now option next to your item in the Codecanyon downloads section.
