I have a question and I hope you know more than me here. There is a function of Trusted Updates, which makes an update of an item without a new and complete review process.
For example I have updated a documentation file of a template and uploaded it in the backend.
This used to take about 10-15 minutes and the template was automatically updated. Now this doesn’t seem to work anymore.
Do the trusted updates work for you? Can an Envato admin say something about this?
Are you sure it’s a trusted update and not a manual review?
The history tab of the item usually mentions this – trusted updates are titled “Trusted Update” and manual reviews will be titled “Update Creation” or similar.
Hi, thank you for your comment. I am sure. I always made updates before and the “trusted update” were running normally. Process was “Upload new Zip File” to an already approved item - 10-15 Minutes after upload the automated approval was made.
Now my uploaded zip could be seen on my dashboard under “Currently processing uploads” - and its not moving until 5 hours.
Since what time “Update Creation” exists in the review process? I always could update my templates automatically without a new review.
Yeah, that’s definitely a manual review, which is the regular review type for all submissions on the marketplace. After an author achieves a high approval ratio, they will unlock the “trusted update” privilege and their submissions will be approved automatically.
However, that privilege is not permanent. It can be reset over time as part of regular checks on marketplace health and compliance, which is most likely what’s happening here. It can also be reset by soft rejections or when items are temporarily hidden by Envato pending required changes.
You generally need to submit updates and receive approval several times before the privilege will automatically return.
If in doubt you can contact Envato Author Support who has the necessary tools to look at your account status, but I’ve been in your exact situation before and quickly reobtained trusted update status by submitting several updates, so there’s probably nothing to worry about.
@baileyherbert thank you for clarification. Sounds crazy that trusted updates is not permanent when nothing bad has happened. 
I have had the trusted approval since years and i think with over 500 approved items and an elite author should it be “the normal” way that updates were approved automatically.
But I will follow this, if the trusted approval will be activated again with time.
