When filling out the form, you need to provide your own details. The last part of the W8 form is your signature, certifying that all the information you’ve provided is correct. I can’t remember the exact wording on the form, but I do recall there being a part stating that knowingly providing incorrect information is classed as perjury… that’s a felony offence in the US and can result in up to five years in prison.
So I’d definitely recommend a big ‘no’ on whether you should use somebody else’s tax details or not.
