Tax Information Confusion

Hello everyone,
I just created my acount on CodeCanyon and I’m willing to sell some of my unity 3d plugins and apps here. I’m really confused about the Tax Information however. I’m not a US citizen, I’m Egyptian. The website said I should review the income tax treaty between United States and Egypt and I think I need a law degree to decipher that document.

Can someone walk me through the Tax Information part of my account or at least refer me to a simpler source of information?

Egypt and the USA have a double taxation treaty (15% on copyrights/royalties).

Your options now:

  1. don’t fill out the tax information for Envato
  • you have to pay 28% US Backup Withholding Tax of your gross sale on all your sales
  1. fill out the tax information for Envato without a TAX ID
  • you have to pay 30% US Royalty Withholding Tax of your gross sale on US sales only
  1. fill out the tax information for Envato with your TAX ID
  • you benefit from the treaty and you have to pay 15% US Royalty Withholding Tax of your gross sale on US sales only

If you pay taxes in Egypt, then you have a TAX ID issued by your tax authority / government. Use this TAX ID as foreign TAX ID.
