I just came across the Envato Author Survey where they’re offering a chance to win 1 of 4 gift cards worth US $300!
I’m curious — are you guys planning to take it?
Have you taken it already? What do you think about the questions? Do you feel it really helps bring changes or improvements for authors?
Would love to hear your thoughts before I jump in!
I took it yesterday, the questions where more ore less the same as in the previous surveys.
I always take surveys, maybe they will lead to positive outcomes, maybe they don’t, but you have nothing to lose in completing one of them.
We launched the new Envato Author Survey this week, as it’s been a while since we ran one of these - it combines some aspects of our old community health and Author satisfaction surveys, and introduces a few new things as well.
The results will be used by several teams at Envato, but from the perspective of my area (Author Engagement) there are a few really valuable parts in the new format:
One of those is understanding more about the types of author businesses that are out there, and how those vary across content types - for example, how many people create content for a typical Graphics account, or a typical Stock Footage one?
It’s also a way for people to let us know if they’re interested in potentially being featured on any of our platforms, and any other portfolios or social media accounts they use - for example, I noticed some Spline portfolios coming through from people who have just started selling in our newest content category. Instagram and YouTube accounts are always good to know about too.
Another focus for us will be understanding what content we can prioritise to help you create items that actually sell. That includes self-service tools like the various Envato Author Dashboard reports, community discussion topics on the forums, Author Hub articles and emails: we have traffic/visits data, but a survey helps us to understand which formats are the most useful for you.
As a marketplace we have access to a lot of data on customer behaviour, from emerging search trends to patterns of related content. We’d like to find the best ways of sharing customer insights so that you can use your time efficiently, when making new items.
I believe that a company that is doing worse and worse every year, and whose authors are seeing their assets depreciate constantly and their overall income decrease, will definitely pay me $300
