Search Algorithm Update

The nightmare begins with PRO registration. :scream:How many tracks will be called Inspiration I have always been told by publishers that tracks should have as unique a name as possible, enhances the chances of receiving royalties and makes the whole process easier.

Iā€™m the first to agree it looks terrible with 100 tracks called Inspiring Corporate which really means nothing, but with so many tracks itā€™s hard to find a solution where you will actually target the buyers.

With one (just 1!) power tag replacing the title it might work, but we risk getting even more ā€œInspiring Inspirationā€ even for the next Halloween track.

If the keyword titles are not misleading it is quite helpful for a buyer browsing through 100 tracks. If the titles are unique like ā€œGrim Reaperā€, ā€œElsaā€™s Dreamā€, A Day in my Shoes" the buyers would have to click listen to every single track before they knew what kind of track it was.

Itā€™s a hard thing to solve with this many tracks. Itā€™s not too hard to guess at this point what customers actually do type in the search box, and since most of us want to sell the tracks we spend lots of time on, we adapt.

Hi Guys, Hi Envato, Hi Community and Hello Music)
Last 6-8 months Search algorithm was like a well ballanced system. Search results were divided between:
1.Name
2.Description
3.Keywords.
And such type of search engine algorithm gave us some freedom with naming our items.

I could name my item ā€œInspirational Corporate Backgroundā€ and put some keywords in description such as ā€œuplifting piece of music with very strong motivational vibeā€. After that my track popped up in search results when potential buyer wanted to find ā€œUplifting Corporateā€, ā€œMotivational Backgroundā€, etc.
I successfully tested it and it worked well for me! And it was amazing, because if you invest your time in SEO on AudioJungle you can get quite good revenue.

I spent a lot of time to improve my building description skills, but what i get now:
I donā€™t know when, exactly (but in september i guess) Envato rolled back search engine to previous version, when HUGE priority was given to track name!
So, now it doesnā€™t matter what i have in my description (or description is so low ranked by Envato engine so it doesnā€™t helps anymore to be on the first two pages of search results).

When i try to search ā€œinspiring corporateā€ I see up to 100 tracks with only this name! And if named my last track ā€œInspiring Corporate Backgroundā€ I will not see it in results until i put in search bar exactly the same combintaion of keywords.

Iā€™m not an elite author and unfortunately i donā€™t have my tracks in weekly top selling charts yet. So i have to find some keys to help my production to stand out of the crowd. Last few months were very inspiring for me because i saw the results of my work not only in production and mixing, but in SEO too. Now my september sales decreased 3 times and iā€™m very dissapointed with this type of changes.

Last 8 months we had some freedom with track names, but now we have to go back to scheme when we name all our tracks with most relevant keywords if we want customers to see it on their screens.

What i should do now? rename all my track names?
Create and name all future music with ā€œCorporateā€ ā€œA Corporateā€ ā€œThe Corporateā€ names?

A realise that iā€™m only human in this cold-cold world, but maybe someone of Envato stuff wil tell us something about this. I Donā€™t think that it will be good for market if authors will begin to update names of tracks they wrote last 6 months,
And i believe that Envato didnā€™t want to have hundreds and hundreds of tracks named exactly the same.

If itā€™s true is bad((

I donā€™t get itā€¦ Are you saying that some changes were made to the search recently? I didnā€™t know

Test it on your own. And see it. Search comething like ā€œUpbeat Ukuleleā€ and youā€™ll just see hundreds of tracks named the same and nothing else. Last 8 months search engine was ā€œweightedā€ and itā€™s search results were splitted between track name, description and keywords. Now search focus has huge offset to track name. And in my opinion itā€™s very bad.

Oh, I see. I think this is worst option. If they wanted to roll back the old search engine,it would be better that they did full roll backā€¦ Then if you call your song inspiration, first two pages would not be full of top sellers,it would be full of new files. So now you canā€™t call your track like that cause you will be at the 5. page, and you canā€™t really use original titles if you want some decent views. So, I donā€™t know what to do now  But considering all the positive changes that envato introduced lately I think that they got some plan for this, specially now when P.R.O. will be involved and original titles will be crucial. I believe in you envato, donā€™t let us down

I felt this bad changes in search engine tooā€¦ Visits of my items are 5 time less than in juneā€¦ waiting for a response from someone from Envato :frowning:

Oh my friend, you understand what iā€™m talking about! Iā€™m not Elite Author, but i definitely can say that search algorithm used on AJ for last 8 months was quite good (almost amazing, to be honest, i think) If you understand how it works and undewrstand some SEO you can make results.
Top Authors on first places in search results? - ok, no problem. They deserve their bonuses. But even with Bestsellers over the rest of the market on result page, there are some benefits that we get from this type of search engine. We can use the description. As i can see today, description is excluded from the search algorithm or downgraded in priority.
And last but not least: Search result are sticked to track name too much.
Example:
If i named my track ā€œInspirational Corporate Backgroundā€ i will see it in search results on first pages only if i type exactly the same combination of keywords. If i will try to search ā€œInspirational Corporateā€ i wonā€™t find my track in search results. The only result i will see is hundreds of tracks called ā€œInspirational Corporateā€.

So, i canā€™t realize how people can tell us that having only ONE combination of keywords (from track name) is better, than combination of name+description+keywordsā€¦
I canā€™t understand it. itā€™s beyond my comprehension.

Fully Support, really donā€™t want a million items with the same title and zero CEO results after search. :frowning:

So what do we have to be here now:
SEO Alchemists,
Lyrics and tittle generators,
Full time search engine analysts and hackers,
Social media promoters and Youtube vlog specialists?

Making good music takes all my time, not just for the jungle!
Who do i have to hire to make me shine in here?
As soon as something works in this place then it is changed, rolled back or scrapped completely!
And trust me iā€™m not one of those guys that will bow down to the INSPIRATIONAL, UPBEAT UKE stuff!
I super sincerely wish luck, sales and health to all Envato and Jungle colleagues, but:
