Right now on videohive’s home page, the current featured item is exactly the same as two weeks ago, which - allow me a bit of sarcasm - isn’t very helpful for buyers or authors in general.
But it got me thinking about one thing… as the “New” section changes so fast it becomes superfluous (taking a guess that most buyers that browse items do it from the drop-down category listing), the “Featured” section could have a bit more spotlight… so my suggestion: something like 3 featured items per week (from different authors) which would allow for more category variety (instead of mainly AE templates) and another extra row or two of said featured items. Makes sense?

Hm… on purpose… this means that for the next 8 weeks the two same thumbnails will be showing on the Featured section… not very professional looking, and a bit unfair for other authors :\ oh well.
Sorry for the mix-up guys. There was a small issue with the file that’s now being featured twice which caused us to temporarily disable the item while it was the featured item of the week. When an item that’s featured gets disabled, our system simply removes it from the list and shifts all other previous files up by one week to fill the gap.
When the item was fixed and returned to the active library, I asked to have the item featured again, ensuring it gets the full featured exposure that it rightfully deserved, but something happened that we weren’t expecting. We re-featured the item for this week, and when the item was re-enabled, the system automatically added it back into its previously featured spot as well. We’re working to get that corrected, and by the end of the day today, the item will only be shown once in the featured items list.
How about my suggestion on the original post? I realize it’s something that would have to be implemented on all marketplaces and not just videohive, so maybe chances are slim, but 3 featured items (each of a different category) per week shouldn’t be that hard to come up with…
It would be a nice way to showcase more authors and have more variety of items displayed. At least as an author I’d prefer to see more curated items by staff and see 2 more rows on the “Featured” section, rather than 4 rows of “New” items which change too fast or a whole row for a single “Featured Author”.
