Refund NOT issued as promised

Hi.

At the end of June I purchased ListingPro directory theme for WordPress.

After using the theme for a couple of days, I noticed several bugs and requested a refund on 5th July.

After several weeks of waiting for a reply, my refund request was accepted by the theme author.

I was told that I would receive my refund by the end of the month of July.

It is now the 2nd of August, and I still havent received my refund.

I contacted the Listingpro Directory theme customer service again yesterday, no reply - so I opened a dispute.

No reply from the theme author nor indeed from ThemeForest.

So, I followed up on the support ticket with the author again today, and received the following reply:

“Yeah we have promised for it, i have sent the reminder to the team, soon you will be refunded.” from a certain Bhatti.

The author clearly hasn’t delivered on their promise, ThemeForest seems to have disappeared, and the author’s reply to my latest email is far from professional, to say the least.

Is anybody at ThemeForest able or willing to help me in getting my money back? Please.

If you have received and email or notification that your refund is on process, it’s related to your bank, probably Envato has already send the money but it may take up to 4-8 weeks ( depending on your bank )

  • It’s not related to the author after this point, contact your bank or Envato if you’d like to get the amount as “credit” on your account ( usually faster )

I didn’t receive a refund confirmation as such. There was no official refund email from either the author or ThemeForest.

I was told by the person replying to the ticket that they had accepted to issue a refund and that they would be processing it before the end of last month.

Then, when following up yesterday and today, I received the reply which I posted in quotes above, which also suggests that the refund hasn’t been initiated on their end.

I don’t think it has anything to do with my bank - and in this particular case, payment was made by PayPal who are normally very quick to process payments and refunds based on close to 2 decades of using their services.

It seems to me that somebody either forgot to do their job or dropped the ball somewhere along the line. Either way, ThemeForest needs to step in and get things moving.

Send an official one then.

Hi @NorthStar777,

If The customer’s refund request was approved by the author of the item, Envato will let the customer know through email. The customer’s request will then be sent to Envato Help Team to be processed.

How do refunds work?

Thanks

Hi folks.

Latest update: I received another message from the author.

Apparently their finance person has been out of work and therefore the refund was not issued.

As I have opened a dispute, there’s nothing they can do and it’s now in Envato’s hands.

I haven’t heard from Envato yet.

Thank you for the various replies I have received on this topic.

I will keep you posted as the situation evolves, it might be useful for anybody who experiences a similar issue in the future.
