Read-more link and excerpts

Hello,
According to knowledgebase, Envato expects “read more link” to work properly.

I purchased 2 popular themes to review what’s acceptable and saw that they use excerpt in the blog list view. Excerpt doesn’t recognize more tag so “Read More” link doesn’t work in their blog lists.

I also plan to use excerpt in my blog list view, so there’s no place to test “read more link” in my design. I think we are free on this, am I right?

I use the_content() in my themes. That way the user can define their own excerpt length using the <!–more–> tag. But either way is fine as long as the “more” link is working. You can customize the “more” link in excerpts using a filter.
