For some time I have noticed that the GoodNews template cannot be customized. Nor does it allow me to make changes to widgets.
What can I do?

Definitely your purchased theme should be customizable. I would like to strongly recommend that please check the theme documentation and theme options hopefully you will get necessary support there. If you have still problem with the theme then The best way to get the support is Contact your purchased Theme Author. Contact Author because Item Author are best expert about their Item functionality. Don’t worry just contact Author. Author will be very happy to assist you.
Bear in mind that if it’s this theme https://themeforest.net/item/goodnews-responsive-wordpress-newsmagazine/1150692 then it’s unsupported so there’s no obligation for the author to help.
It looks like that theme may not operate on the latest versions of WP etc but you should still check you are using the latest version of the theme available and that your hosting and WP versions are all up to date.
