Popular Item Pages for Subcategories

You might have seen some of our popular pages eg: Best WordPress Themes and Best Infographic Templates.

We have seen that these pages works well for buyers, especially through our paid ad campaigns. So we have decided to start rolling it out to subcategories.

Now you can see what are the popular items in each category/subcategory. In the initial phase we have enabled these pages BUT they are not linked to from within the Market sites. We are currently exploring ways to links to these pages from within the Market sites.

Here are a few sample pages to get you started :

If you want to get the URL to any specific category/subcategory you can do this

Replace XXXXXXXXXXX with the category slug from the URL

http://themeforest.net/category/marketing/email-templates ( category slug = marketing/email-templates )

http://graphicriver.net/category/presentation-templates/powerpoint-templates ( category slug = presentation-templates/powerpoint-templates )

so the popular pages become

We have started promoting a select few of these via the homepage.

Yep! I am really glad that you implemented this.
It was one of my feature requests and I even submitted a ticket about this.

Are you going to implement the 3rd level submenu (subcategories) as well?

@abusinesstheme it should work for 3rd level too

eg: https://themeforest.net/popular_item/by_category?category=wordpress/creative/portfolio

I have talked about these feature in old forums and nice to see that Envato is working on it.

Thank you

@SaijoGeorge is there any plan to implement this feature?

I was actually referring to this: http://i.imgur.com/VdtlIXB.png

@angrygorilla @abusinesstheme We have not started to link out to all these pages from within the site. We are running a test to see how they perform by promoting a few select categories using the homepage

Hello @SaijoGeorge ,

Thank you for your response. I think it will be good if you implement this on populars page (by using some filtering instrument on UI) to let user narrow the populars by categories. It will help us to create more exposure as well.

Best

Hi @SaijoGeorge

Are you considering also adding this to the Envato Market homepage too?

http://market.envato.com/

I have received an email about this. I wondered then why I couldn’t see it in the market.

Now make sense.

Also, @SaijoGeorge do you think “Top Selling & Best Technology Landing Pages” is better than “Best Technology Landing Pages” in terms of SEO? I think most people search for best instead of top selling. What do you think?

Lastly, If you are implementing the links to menu or sidebar, please also let the team know that the current search sidebar is useless as we have deep level menus. It will confuse the user (it even bothers me when searching myself). So, I request to modify in such a way that people could easily filter by sub-sub-categories  (it should be visible)

Why not add second level menus?
