I think it’s better if you use full width Slider also like leafcolor said choose better fonts and try to add more unique design that make your theme special.

Yes, typography is important to take care of here. Also I would suggest different navigation animations, since when I hover on a link in navigation, the hover style makes it harder to choose what I want.
