this is too “raw” Jeri, at this stage , sorry to say just this , but it looks like “unfinished work” . Globally the style is a bit off to say the least , but the outdated feeling that we have is also being worsened because of the contrast of illustration style between the main character and the surrounding elements indeed , which look, to be honest, really clippartish … u have to opt for either an “abstract” modern style or a more “drawn style” with a lot of details, u cannot get in the middle of the way. U should also think about adding shadows so that the illustration gets more realistic and worked out
