Newspaper Update to 11.2 not working

Today I updated my Newspaper Theme from 11.1 to 11.2. As always, the theme turns off my Newspaper widgets and refuses to display the site properly, until I go in and manually turn them back on.

But this time, I get the error:

There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

and the site refuses to run. I can’t even display the dashboard. I finally got the site to run by using FTP and renaming the Newspaper folder to something else, then selecting a different theme from the dashboard.

I also manually installed the new Newspaper theme, but nothing seemed to work.

Anyone have any ideas about what might be wrong?
