I have a website I purchased from a website SEO company, I stiopped using them several years ago and took ownership of my site. Havent done anything with it, but would like to work on it now and hopefully build its presence online. Currently shows “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions. If you continue to have problems”
I need help on many leve;s
That’s an WordPress error, who knows why( you gotta check the server log ) but it’s not “help”, it’'s a work definition for everyone, unless you’re planning to hire someone, you need to figure it out by yourself, assuming that you don’t have “active” support period, too.
Sounds like your site is running into a common WordPress issue. That “critical error” usually means something’s broken, maybe a plugin or theme acting up. If you still have access to your hosting or files, you can try checking your email for a message from WordPress, or look at the error logs in your hosting dashboard. Another thing you can do is go into the wp-content
folder and rename the plugins
folder to something else like plugins_old
to see if that helps the site load , it’s a way to tell if a plugin is causing the problem. If that works, you can then reactivate them one by one.
