I am currently using Generatepress Theme for my website. I want to transfer to any light theme to increase or same site speed. I also want to ask that, how can I safely do that.
We have a guide on safely changing your WordPress theme if you want to read more, but basically we always recommend:
- taking a full backup of your website
- cloning your current site for testing (to a staging or localhost site)
- fully testing and troubleshooting on the test site (to work out any issues or plugin conflicts)
- then installing and activating the new theme on your live site
That said, I’ve never used GeneratePress personally but supposedly it’s already pretty “lightweight”. For improved site speed, you might want to also consider upgrading your hosting or adding a CDN (such as Cloudflare).
