Hi There, I have listened to your tracks. Both have very bright mixes and pretty unbalanced to my ears. e.g 1st track has very loud tambourine and the 2nd track has too much/wet reverb.
Maybe the composition could be okay, i can’t comment on that but the mixes might be the problem. My advice is take more time to listen to AJ tracks and get A/B references from your favorite tracks, also if you’re not confident with your ears, you may need to use spectrum or tonal balance plugin etc. I believe this should help you much easier.
